Our VPK program focuses on preparing your child for the exciting transition to Kindergarten by enhancing their emergent reading, math, language and social skills. We also focus on character traits, which include respect, honesty, responsibility, self-control, tolerance, kindness, citizenship and cooperation.  Because of these essential early learning skills, children are more likely to be successful throughout their schooling.

Our program meets and exceeds national standards, offers developmentally appropriate curriculum, small class sizes, qualified teachers and addresses all learning styles. Most of our lead teachers have a  degree in early childhood education with a minimum of a CDA, along with many years of experience teaching a preschool environment.

The classroom is set up in a way that fosters the children’s initiative and exploration. Each classroom is divided into learning centers. This allows children to learn through play activities that interest them. There is a focus on math, literacy and reading readiness, with homework given on a weekly basis. We believe that with the teacher and parent working together, the transition to kindergarten will be a smooth and successful one.

Who can participate in VPK?

If you live in Florida and have a child who turns 4 years of age by September 1st, your child is eligible for Florida’s FREE VPK program. There are no income requirements; all four-year-old children are eligible.  Children can participate in either a school year program or a summer VPK program.

What are the steps for these services?

When you complete the application process (elcbroward.org), you will receive a Certificate of Eligibility and a list Broward County VPK Providers. You will need to submit the Certificate of Eligibility to the provider you choose, prior to your child attending the program.
